Sissi - Forever My Love

Ernst Marischka arbeitete seine SISSI-Trilogie 1962 in eine einzige englische Version unter dem Titel FOREVER MY LOVE um. Das war auch der Titel des von Burt Bacharach neu angefertigten Titelliedes. Die The New York Times weist in ihrer Kritik 1962 auf die an sich simple Handlung hin, lobt aber die Schauspieler, vor allem, ohne ihn identifizieren zu können, Walther Reyer: »Glowing like a ripe peach, the beaming Miss Schneider is a sight to behold as the headstrong, loving young wife of Emperor Franz Josef, clashing with his starchy mother (Vilma Degischer) over court protocols, cementing foreign relations with a smile and wanting only the adoration of her doting young emperor, Mr. Boehm. There are two hitches. ¿Sissi¿ almost drifts into a mild flirtation with a dashing Hungarian count (an unidentified actor and the picture¿s best performer), and she gets tuberculosis and has to be carted off, temporarily for a rest cure.«
