He who reflects his past, influences his future,
He who controls his present, manipulates his past,
He who wills his future, shapes his present.
One man, one bondage: the bondage to time. Every soul ages, willingly or unwillingly. Roland is unwilling, but this bondage overwhelms him. He feels time slipping through his fingers. How can he defend himself? He cannot. Time marches inexorably forwards. He is helpless, powerless, and ill-equipped. It’s this situation, from which he cannot escape. It confronts him with the three tenses of life: the future, the present, and the past. And Roland’s mind is made a Tornado!
