Der Film "The Banshees of Inisherin" hat bei den Golden Globes 2023 in Beverly Hills drei große Preise gewonnen. Der Streifen unter der Regie von Martin McDonagh (52) siegte in der Kategorie "Bester Film - Musical oder Comedy" und "Bestes Drehbuch". Außerdem ging der Preis für die beste Leistung eines Schauspielers in einem Film (Musical oder Comedy) an Hauptdarsteller Colin Farrell (46). "Ich erwarte nie, dass meine Filme ein Publikum finden, und wenn sie es tun, ist es schockierend für mich", erklärte dieser bei der Veranstaltung.
Der Film spielt auf der irischen Insel Inisherin, auf der Colm Doherty (Brendan Gleeson) und sein langjähriger Freund Pádraic Súilleabháin (Colin Farrell) leben. Eines Tages beendet Colm wie aus dem Nichts seine Freundschaft mit Pádraic...

Preise für "Die Fabelmans"
Steven Spielbergs (76) Film "Die Fabelmans" gehörte ebenfalls zu den großen Gewinnern des Abends. Das Werk wurde zum "Besten Filmdrama" gekürt. Spielberg wurde darüber hinaus als bester Regisseur ausgezeichnet. Der Film "Everything Everywhere All at Once" sahnte ebenfalls Preise ab, Michelle Yeoh (60) wurde als beste Schauspielerin (Musical/Comedy) und Ke Huy Quan (51) als bester Nebendarsteller geehrt.
Austin Butler als Elvis ausgezeichnet
Der Preis für den besten Hauptdarsteller in einem Drama ging an Austin Butler (31) für seine Rolle als Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmanns (60) Biopic "Elvis". Cate Blanchett (53) wurde für ihren Auftritt in "Tar" als beste Drama-Schauspielerin ausgezeichnet. Den Award für die "Beste Leistung einer Schauspielerin in einer Nebenrolle" bekam Angela Bassett (64) für ihren Auftritt in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever".
Die TV-Stars
"Abbott Elementary" wurde zur besten Comedyserie gekürt, zwei der Stars daraus, Tyler James Williams (30) und Quinta Brunson (33), konnten zudem Schauspielpreise mit nach Hause nehmen. "The White Lotus" holte den Preis in der Kategorie "Beste limitierte Serie", Schauspielerin Jennifer Coolidge (61) heimste dafür ebenfalls einen Preis ein. Amanda Seyfried (37) wurde für ihre Performance in der Miniserie "The Dropout" ausgezeichnet.
"House of the Dragon" darf sich über die Auszeichnung als "Beste Dramaserie" freuen. Die Schauspielpreise im TV-Drama-Bereich gingen an Zendaya (26, "Euphoria") und Kevin Costner (67, "Yellowstone").
