Alex (Patrick Fugit) will ernst machen und um die Hand seiner bezaubernden Freundin Katherine (Jennifer Morrison) anhalten. Doch mit ihrer Antwort hat er nicht gerechnet: Bevor sie 'Ja' sagt, möchte Katherine, die sonst eigentlich glücklich in der Beziehung ist, dass Alex eine von ihr aufgestellte Liste abarbeitet. Während er nichts mehr will, als Katherine endlich seine Verlobte nennen zu dürfen, kommen ihm allmählich Zweifel, ob diese ihn auch so lieben kann, wie er wirklich ist…
