Rachel ist ein Workaholic und hat auch ihre Hochzeit samt Flitterwochen von Anfang bis Ende durchgeplant. Doch dann lässt sie ihr Bräutigam am Altar stehen und ihr Vater, den sie nicht mehr gesehen hat, seit sie 5 Jahre alt ist, lässt sich auf der Feier blicken. Die beiden betrinken sich und wachen mit einem Kater am nächsten Morgen auf, ausgerechnet auf dem Kreuzfahrtschiff, auf dem Rachel ihren Honeymoon verbracht hätte. Wohl oder übel muss sie auf dem Schiff bleiben und nutzt die Zeit, um einige unausgesprochene Differenzen mit ihrem Vater zu klären.

A drama based on the experiences of Agu, a child fighting in the civil war of an unnamed, fictional West African country. Follows the journey of Agu as he's forced to join a group of soldiers. While Agu fears his commander and many of the men around him, his fledgling childhood has been brutally shattered by the war raging through his country, and he is at first torn between conflicting revulsion and fascination. Depicts the mechanics of war and does not shy away from explicit, visceral detail, painting a complex, difficult picture of Agu as a child soldier.

When his young daughter's beloved companion — an android named Yang — malfunctions, Jake searches for a way to repair him. In the process, Jake discovers the life that has been passing in front of him, reconnecting with his wife and daughter across a distance he didn't know was there.
